Ecuador, with six victories and one defeat against Venezuela in Quito in the World Cup qualifiers

La Tri’s only defeat at home was in the 2010 World Cup tie in South Africa.

Ecuador and Venezuela will meet this Thursday at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium, on date 13 of the South American tie, in a crucial match for the Tricolor in its aspirations to be in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Those led by Gustavo Alfaro are third in the standings with 17 points, a position beset by Colombia (16), Uruguay (16), Chile (13), Bolivia (12), Paraguay (12) and Peru (11). Only six points are ahead of him from ninth place, so a victory is mandatory for Ecuador if it wants to be in the World Cup.

Although Ecuador already suffered a setback against Vinotinto a month ago, when they fell 2-1 in Caracas, the statistics smile on them in the face of the commitments they have played in Quito, specifically at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium, for World Cup qualifiers.

Everyone’s team has achieved six victories and only one defeat in seven games played in the capital Ecuadorian, who give hope that Ecuador can defeat Venezuela again, this time at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium.

The only defeat of the Tri at home was in the elimination process to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, when José Manuel Rey scored the only goal with a free kick of more than 40 meters, which surprised everyone at Atahualpa and allowed Vinotinto to get three points.

In addition, it was the only goal that Venezuela has been able to turn into Quito soil, before the 15 it has received in the other six matches.
