Messi “is well and available” to play against Uruguay, says Scaloni

captain of Argentina team, Lionel Messi “is fine and ready” to play in World Cup qualifiers this Friday against Uruguay, coach Lionel Scaloni said at a news conference. However, the coach clarified that he will confirm the player’s definitive participation in a few hours.

“Messi is doing fine and if he keeps this up, he’s going to play,” Scaloni said on Thursday of the star of the Paris Saint Germain, who was released from the team last week due to thigh and knee problems.

“In principle, it is available. If you’re okay, they already know what I think about your game and your condition in the team. This afternoon we would make the last decision, but I repeat: for the time being it is fine”, insisted the commander.

The team must perform the last training session this Thursday afternoon, at the facilities in Ezeiza (southern Buenos Aires), before traveling to the Uruguay.

On Monday, when he arrived in Argentina, Messi performed different jobs and, on Wednesday, he trained with his teammates.

“Living with Leo, who always wants to play, is easy, because I also want him to play always,” said Scaloni.

Albiceleste, which was crowned champions of America in July and is in second place in the qualifiers for the World Cup, will face the leader Brazil next week in the city of San Juan.
