Polish footballers have been leaving Poland abroad for years. Many of them become important figures in new teams, thanks to which they receive a generous salary. Those who play in the best European leagues, such as English, Spanish, German, Italian or French, can count on them.
Poles earn well in the leading European leagues. On average, it is nearly PLN 9 million
The Off the Pitch portal, specializing in financial analysis in football, has prepared a list of the highest-paid players by nationality in the five leading European leagues. Only the basic salary was taken into account, bonuses for example for performance or signing a contract were not taken into account. The data comes from before the January transfer window, only those countries with at least 15 players in the top five leagues were taken into account.
The analysis showed that football players from Belgium have the highest average earnings. At the time of data collection, there were a total of 41 players in the TOP 5 leagues, each earning around €4.067 million on average. The second place was taken by the Brazilians, having then 94 representatives in the top leagues. Their average earnings amounted to EUR 3.968 million. The third was the English with 196 representatives, in their case the average salary was 3.509 million euros.
How did the Poles fare against them? Before the January transfer window, 45 players played in the top European leagues, and their average earnings amounted to EUR 1,889,762, which is PLN 8,986,228 at the current exchange rate. This gave them 23rd place in the ranking, below were m. French (1.842 million), Germans (1.839 million) and Spaniards (1.767 million) and Italians (1.591 million). However, they had much more representatives in the TOP 5 leagues, respectively: 375, 270, 339 and 237.
