Some time ago, it seemed certain that Busquets’ destiny would be the MLS, but that story has taken a turn in recent months. Now, the 34-year-old must either stay in the Barcelona – coach Xavi wants to rely on the midfielder -, or go to Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team.
According to Brand, the Saudi club offered a salary of 18 million euros (about R$ 100 million) per season to hire the athlete. In the Arab world, there is an effort to fill local football with stars, aiming for the 2030 World Cup, which may have Saudi Arabia as host country, as well as Qatar in 2022.
Busquets has a contract with Barça until the end of the season and is waiting for a renewal proposal from the club where he played throughout his career to decide his future. Several other clubs are also interested in having the player.
