Member of the FIS Executive Committee Panzhinsky spoke about financial losses due to the absence of Russians
Member of the Executive Committee of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alexander Panzhinsky spoke about the financial losses due to the absence of the Russians. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
Panzhinsky said that the FIS executive committee discussed the loss of viewership, as well as financial losses from the sale of rights to TV broadcasts. He noticed that this season the attention to racing has become weaker due to the lack of competition. “For cross-country skiing, the loss of Russia is quite significant,” the FIS member emphasized.
On January 27, FIS Secretary General Michel Vion said that Russian skiers have no chance to take part in the World Championships. The tournament will be held from February 22 to March 5 in Planica, Slovenia.
Russian skiers miss the season in the international arena due to sanctions imposed on them by the FIS.
