Barandika and Lekerika complete the final of the Jai Alai Winter Series

Barandika-Lekerika qualified for the final of the Jai Alai Winter Series after defeating Goiko-Etxeto in the second semifinal. The match reached the third set, to the delight of the spectators who came to Jai Alai de Gernika. The set had an even start: 4-4, 6-6 and 7-7. In those first balls it was seen that the game was going to be fun for the public. The fifth goal for the Whites was worth highlighting: Etxeto put a seemingly impossible ball into the rebound hole, and Barandika ended up responding with a superb two-waller.

At half-time the whites came ahead (7-8)and around the locker room when the Gernikarras scored the fifteenth goal, the oranges had only achieved one more (8-15).

The second set was much more even. Total they were even on six occasions: 3-3, 4-4, 9-9, 12-12, 13-13 and 14-14. The set was really disputed, the defenders got difficult balls, and the forwards scored goals. Goiko picked up a ball from the rebound, and as it came to him he made a measured two walls to make it 5-4 on the scoreboard. The Zumaiarra did something elegant. Goiko and Etxeto were better, and in the end they managed to win the set (15-14).

The second set was tough, there was so many long and physical, but the quartet that was on the court still had the strength to fuel the show. The two couples wanted to be in the Winter Series final and it was seen on the pediment. In the last set they also tied 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3.

The Zumaiarra, however, cut from the right. The tie seemed done. Lekerika, however, managed to pick up the ball by coming running from behind. Although he sent the ball to the rebound and Goiko managed to respond, Barandika did not forgive and ended the game with a good drop shot on the txoko.

Therefore, with Barandika and Lekerika qualified for the final, three gernikarras They will compete for the txapela. Beaskoetxea will be accompanied by López from Zumaia in the last game of his career, and in front of him he will have his cousin Barandika and Lekerika. The final will be on February 19but first, on February 13, Olharan-Basque and Goiko-Etxeto will fight for third place.
