Both teams approached the match closing the 19th round of the league struggle in different moods. Cracovia won 2-0 against Grnik Zabrze last week and had a slight gap to the podium before the start of this series of games. On the other hand, Korona lost 2:3 to Legia at Łazienkowska a week ago and closed the league table. The favorite of the skirmish in Kielce was “Pasy”. Ultimately, Jacek Zieliński’s team will return to Krakow without points.
Korona Kielce fights for survival and wins. They bounced off the bottom
From the beginning of the match, Korona was much more active, keeping possession of the ball more often and not allowing Cracovia to leave its own half. Already in the 5th minute a strong shot was fired by Miłosz Trojak, but he made a slight mistake. On the other hand, the visitors, apart from two corner kicks, did not have any offensive actions in the first quarter. Korona was much more specific in its attacks.
In the 15th minute, Ronaldo Deaconu fired a very dangerous shot at Karol Niemczycki’s goal, but the young goalkeeper made a great intervention. If it wasn’t for him, the Cracovians would lose in Kielce after just a dozen or so minutes. A few moments later, Niemczycki had to intervene again, and he did it again in a spectacular way. In response, Virgil Ghita was slightly wrong, which was the first threat from the “Belts”.
In the 30th minute, Piotr Malarczyk led Korona to the lead. Adam Deja showed off a great cross into the penalty area, and the 31-year-old defender only added his head and turned the pass into a goal. Kielce took the lead, and Cracovia was unable to respond until the end of the first half, although an excellent opportunity had, among others, Karol Knap.

After the change of sides, the meeting opened up a bit, and the guests created more chances in Korona’s penalty area. When it seemed that “Stripes” would lead to a draw, a thoughtless foul in the penalty area was committed by Yevhen Konoplyanka. The Ukrainian pulled his rival’s shirt, and the referee Krzysztof Jakubik had no doubts and awarded a penalty kick. And this one was probably used by Jakub Łukowski.
Ten minutes later, the referee called another penalty. This time for Cracovia after playing the hand of Miłosz Trojak. In this case, the referee initially released the action, and after a while after video verification and checking the situation on the monitor, he pointed to the lime. Thanks to Karol Knap, the guests got in touch, and for the youth player it was the first goal in the Ekstraklasa.
Nothing changed until the end of the match, although the hosts had a few more chances, even after Bartosz Śpisz’s shot. In the end, Korona won 2:1 and it was the first victory of Kielce since August 27, when they won against Radomiak Radom (2:0). It is also the first win under the leadership of Kamil Kuzera.
Thanks to the victory, Korona rebounded from the bottom and advanced to the 17th place (16 points). In turn, Cracovia with 28 points takes 6th place. In a week, Kielce will play against Śląsk Wrocław, and “Pasy” will play at Łazienkowska with Legia.
