More than 3,000 dead and 15,000 injured – this is the latest tally of the nightmarish earthquake that hit southern Turkey and northern Syria overnight from Sunday to Monday. The disaster struck the country at 4:17 local time, which is 2:17 in Poland. The earthquake lasted more than a minute, and the epicenter was about 30 km from the city of Gaziantep, with a population of two million. The strength of the quake was estimated at 7.8 on the Richter scale.
The balance of the injured will certainly grow, as many people are still considered missing.
There was no contact with him on Monday morning. The earthquake hit Kahramanmaras hard, where Hatayspor’s headquarters are located. Taner Savut, sporting director of Hatayspor, was also buried under the rubble. Earlier, Burak Oksuz, Bertug Yildirim and Kerim Alici were pulled out of the ruins.
