Neymar wins the Samba Gold award for the sixth time in his career

Neymar won Samba Gold 2022, an award given to the best Brazilian player playing abroad, for the sixth time in his career. The attacker of Paris Saint Germain he was already the biggest winner of the award and now extends his advantage over the runner-up.

Samba Gold is organized by the site Sambafoot and receives votes from former players, journalists and internet users, who elect the winner among 20 previously chosen names. Lucas Paquetá (West Ham) and Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle) completed the podium. Striker Debinha, who plays for Kansas City Current, in the United States, won the women’s award. The new category, the under-20 trophy, went to Endrick, from Palmeiras, who surpassed Matheus França (Flamengo) and Vitor Roque (Athletico-PR).

Neymar, who turned 31 last Sunday, also won the 2014, 2015, 2017, 2020 and 2021 editions. In 2022, the Brazilian played 43 games, scored 32 goals and distributed 20 assists, helping PSG to become champion of the Ligue 1 and the French Super Cup.

The Brazilian star was out of the game against Montpellier due to muscle fatigue and, against Toulouse, he was diagnosed with a thigh adductor problem. However, Neymar has already returned to training this Monday and should play against Olympique de Marseille, for the round of 16 of the French Cup.
