Turkey was struck by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake, the strongest to hit the country since 1939. A few hours later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 was recorded in the central part of the country. Tremors were also felt in Syria, Lebanon and Cyprus. The number of victims of the emergency, according to the latest data, exceeded 1000.
