Estonian Prime Minister Kallas: Tallinn may boycott the 2024 Olympics if Russia participates

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said that the country could boycott the Paris 2024 Olympic Games if athletes from Russia and Belarus are allowed. It is reported by Reuters.

According to her, Estonia is currently making efforts to “convince friends and allies of the ‘wrong’ presence of Russians and Belarusians at the 2024 Olympics. “The next step is a boycott,” Kallas stressed.

Earlier, the President of the Estonian Olympic Committee Urmas Syyrumaa speculated about a possible boycott by the national team of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris if Russians and Belarusians were allowed to compete. He called such a decision an extreme option, since it would harm the Estonian athletes.

On January 25, the IOC announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. It was noted that athletes who did not support the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will have a chance to get permission to compete in international tournaments.
