In a press conference this Saturday, coach Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez, spoke about the future of Sérgio Busquets within the team. The 34-year-old midfielder has a contract only until June, with no guaranteed renewal with the Catalan team.
Xavi declared that the club is awaiting the choice of the player, who can already sign a pre-contract with other teams.
“The decision will be his. We are waiting. He is a very important person for the club, on and off the field. He is the captain”, he said.

“He deserved the power to decide his future. I would be very happy if he stayed for another year”, concluded the coach, who did not hide his desire to count on the Spanish athlete for longer.
According to the Catalan vehicle Sport, Busquets has an offer from Inter Miami, David Beckham’s club in the United States, and polls from teams in Saudi Arabia. The midfielder will decide his future after talking to Barcelona about extending his bond.
Xavi and Busquets played together on the field between 2008 and 2015, forming Barcelona’s starting midfield for over 300 games. Now, as a coach and player, the two have been working together since 2021.
