Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova reacted to information about the impending amputation of the fingers of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
Tarasova said that the general dynamics of the condition of the 45-year-old athlete is getting better, but she does not know about amputation. “I call the hospital every day. Doctors say that most of the day he breathes on his own, with his lungs, ”she emphasized.
On February 3, Mash reported that Kostomarov was being prepared for an operation to amputate his toes. It was noted that due to the long connection to the blood oxygen saturation device (ECMO), the athlete began to die of tissues, gangrene spread to the toes.
On February 1, a source from Lenta.ru reported that nothing threatened Kostomarov’s life. At the same time, it was noted that his fingers could be amputated.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B.
