O Chelsea drew with Fulham this Friday and featured the debut of Enzo Fernández. The Argentine defensive midfielder has just joined the team, coming from Benfica, and already left a good impression. Blues coach Graham Potter commented on the young player’s first start for his new team.

Enzo Fernández stood out in world Cup of Qatar, in the victorious campaign of the Argentina, and caught the attention of Chelsea. After a lot of negotiations, the London team managed to bring the player, for more than 120 million euros. This Friday, the Argentine was on the field for 90 minutes and, in the eyes of Graham Potter, had a good performance.
“I thought he behaved magnificently. It was a tough game and you could see his qualities, you could see what he will bring to the team”, said the coach. “It wasn’t easy for him or for us, because he hasn’t been with us for so long, but I think you can see how good he can be and how much he can influence the team.”
Overall, however, Potter recognized that his team lacked some qualities for victory to be achieved. Even so, the Chelsea commander pondered the result, remembering the changes in the cast that his team has been going through.
“I don’t think we’ve done enough in terms of attacking play to create more, which is something we need to do. I think we saw against us a team that defends very well, is very organized. We lacked that bit of connection, that bit of fluidity, that bit of understanding that is needed. Which is understandable when you consider that we have players coming back from injury and new players in the team.”
Chelsea are not going through a great phase in the English Championship and won just one of their last six matches. With that, it occupies the ninth place in the leaderboard, with 30 points. The team returns to the field next Saturday, at 9:30 am (Brasília time), against West Hamat the London Olympic Stadium.
