For several days, forecasts indicated that on Friday there could be an attack of winter in the whole of Poland. And indeed it happened. Winter can also torpedo the league. The match between Widzew Łódź and Jagiellonia Białystok may not take place due to the bad weather at the stadium.
Winter surprised the Ekstraklasa players and Widzew Łódź. “There is a risk that the match will not take place”
The information about the risk of cancellation of Friday’s match was first provided by the journalist of Canal+Sport, Michał Siejak, who posted a photo from the facility in Łódź. It shows the turf and the stands completely covered with snow. “An interesting situation at the Widzew stadium. There is a risk that the match against Jagiellonia will not take place today,” he wrote.
Widzew Łódź also referred to the matter. The club has released an official statement and informed when a decision will be made regarding tonight’s match. “The decision to play today’s match against Jagiellonia Białystok will be made at 18:30, after consultation with the PZPN delegate,” we read on Twitter.

Conditions are also not the best on the roads. Journalists of Radio Białystok going to the match in the “Heart of Łódź” posted a video on social media, which shows what the current weather situation in the center of the country looks like. However, it is quite dynamic and it is possible that until 18:30 will change, and the clubs, referees and PZPN delegate will make a joint decision to play the clash.
Widzew is currently 3rd in the table and loses 12 points to the leader Raków. In turn, Jagiellonia will have to fight for maintenance in the spring. The team from Podlasie is currently in 15th place and has only a point advantage over the relegation zone.
