Despite the efforts and insistence of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE), chaired by Jorge Delgado, he has not received a response for Guillermo Lasso, President of the Republic, to grant the written guarantee that guarantees the budget for the execution of the Guayaquil Bolivarian Games 2025.

Danilo Carrera: I have an excellent relationship with Jorge Delgado, but the COE lacks a lot of activity, because neither Olympic festivals are held
Article 45 of the statute of the Bolivarian Sports Organization (Odebo) establishes “the written endorsement assumed by the Head of State of the requesting country and another issued by the highest authority of the city where the Games are planned to be held, committing to compliance with all the statutory and regulatory requirements of the Odebo…”.
Roberto Ibáñez, president of Fedeguayas: ‘It is neither fair nor ethical to be left out of the organizing committee of the Bolivarian Games’; however, the COE has powers to remove members
After a technical study carried out in 2022 by international experts in multi-sport games hired by the COE, it was determined that the budget for the execution of the XX Bolivarian Games 2025 corresponds to a value greater than $51 million.
‘Sport as a State policy’, but this activity suffers a budget cut
Without this guarantee, the COE cannot appoint an organizing committee to be in charge of carrying out the event, which has been exposed to the national government in two letters sent with a copy to the Ministry of Sport.
This Wednesday, February 1, Odebo sent a statement to the COE in which an extraordinary executive committee scheduled for next Monday, February 6, will be discussed, in which the issue of the progress of the Games will be discussed.
In December 2021, Ecuador presented the candidacy to hold the Games. Said application was made with a letter of intent from the national government, but no written endorsement was given to guarantee the budget. In addition, a dossier was presented that was not prepared, reviewed or approved by the COE.
The Ecuadorian Olympic Committee requests the national government to grant this guarantee to carry out the Games, which would leave an important sports infrastructure legacy for the country. (D)
