The South American Qualifiers enter their final stretch. This Thursday, at 20:00 (GMT), Paraguay and Chile face off in Asunción, for the 13th round.
Paraguay started the qualifiers well, but dropped in performance and is currently in eighth place, with 12 points. With that, the Federation opted for a change of command and the Argentine Guillermo Barros Schelotto arrived to try to lead the team to the World Cup.
Schelotto highlighted that the focus is only on the last matches to seek the classification zone.
“We are in an instance where we have six parts to define our future, world or not. It’s no use going back, today we don’t have time to think about what happened, that’s all we have left, let’s be positive, support the players, this group and try beating Chile is the first step we have to take,” he said.
On the other hand, Chile took the opposite path in the Qualifiers. The Chileans are in sixth, with 13 points, and dreamed of the Worlds again.
However, coach Martín Lasarte knows that Chile will have a motivated opponent ahead.
“Generally, the changes bring a new impulse, energy, speech, which can sometimes be improved with time or not. The issue of location is important, I understand that they will have a capacity close to the total. These are aspects that count Up to a certain point, the Paraguay is a good team, in Copa América they beat us well and we are going to look for the tools that will allow us to maintain the dynamics of the last matches”, he declared.
Whoever wins enters the fight for a place in the next World Cup.
