A powerful crash with the participation of Micha³ Kwiatkowski. The cyclist almost fell off the bridge [WIDEO]

On Thursday, the second stage of the Etoile de Bessèges race took place, in which Micha Kwiatkowski (Ineos Grenadiers) takes part. The cyclists had to ride a route from Bagard to Aubais with a total length of 169.6 km. Ultimately, this stage was not completed, and all because of a crash that could have had tragic consequences.

The first crash took place about 37 kilometers before the finish line, when the riders collided in the middle of the peloton. However, the injured quickly managed to return to the competition and it did not disturb the course of the race. Much more serious was the situation that occurred about 24 kilometers before the finish line.

During the peloton’s passage over a small bridge there was a serious accident. The organizers were forced to call all available ambulances to help the injured. Finally, it was decided to neutralize the race 22 km before the end. Valentin Ferron (TotalEnergies) may have suffered the most. The Frenchman almost fell off the bridge, but luckily he managed to save himself. The situation can be seen in the recording below (from 1:45).

The Ineos Grenadiers team informed via social media that nothing had happened to its players. – All the best to everyone who was involved in the crashes. Our boys reached the finish line, including Michał Kwiatkowski, who was stopped in a crash at the back of the peloton – we read on Twitter.

The leader of the Etoile de Besseges remained the winner of the first stage, Belgian Arnaud De Lie (Lotto Dstny). Denmark’s Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) was second, and Frenchman Benoit Cosnefroy (AG2R Citroen Team) third. The third stage with a total length of 169.7 km is scheduled for tomorrow.
