Barcelona must pay for Lewandowski’s goals. A surprising clause in the contract

In the summer, after many weeks of negotiations, the Bayern authorities agreed to transfer Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona. The captain of the Polish national team officially became a “Blaugrana” player on July 19, 2022, i.e. over half a year ago. After selling the striker for 45 million euros, the German champions secured another income opportunity, which will soon be felt by the 34-year-old’s new employer.

Barcelona will pay Bayern for Lewandowski’s goals

After arriving at Camp Nou, Robert Lewandowski played 25 matches for the new team, scoring 23 goals and providing five assists. The last former Bayern player scored on Wednesday against Real Betis and with 14 hits on his account he strengthened his position as the leader of the La Liga scorers classification.

Gabriel Sans, a journalist close to the Barcelona community, has reported that the Spaniards will have to pay Bayern Munich 1.25 million euros if Lewandowski scores at least 25 goals in all official competitions this season. Last year, such details of the transaction with the participation of the Pole were also reported by the German journalist Christian Falk. The 34-year-old’s contract with “Barca” is valid until 2026, so in theory the German champions can earn an additional 5 million euros on the transfer of the player.

Taking into account Robert Lewandowski’s 23 goals and his current form, it can be said that in the near future the Barcelona authorities will contribute to increasing the budget of the Bavarians.

On Sunday, the captain of the Polish national team will have a chance to increase his goalscoring achievements. Barcelona will host Sevilla, which is ranked 13th in the Spanish La Liga, at home.
