Nottingham Forest announce signing of Ghana captain

Nottingham Forest announced the signing of Ghanaian striker André Ayew on Thursday. The captain of his national team, without a club since January after passing through Al Sadd, signed a contract until the end of the season.

At Premier League, Ayew has spells at West Ham and Swansea City. At Forest, the striker will meet coach Steve Cooper, with whom he had already worked precisely at Swansea, where he played 84 games and scored 35 goals.

“Steve Cooper knows me very well and knows how to work with me on and off the field. We have a strong relationship. He is a trainer and a special human being. He is someone I look up to.”, stated the athlete.

Captain of the Ghanaian national team, André Ayew participated in 113 games with the national team, including the matches of the World Cup in Qatar, in which he became the only player from Ghana to participate in the last three editions of the tournament. During the competition, Ayew scored the first of Ghana’s goals in a 3–2 loss to Portugal in the first round.

Throughout his career, the 33-year-old athlete played 527 games, with 153 goals scored and 58 assists. Ayew’s experience will be of great value to Nottingham Forest, which currently occupies 13th place in the Premier League, with 21 points, and has as its main objective for the season to remain in the elite of English football.

“I know what I can add to the team. I’m ready to do my best and make sure we stay in the Premier League.”
