The battle in the first thread of the trial between Robert Lewandowski and Cezary Kucharski is behind us. At the beginning of Thursday’s hearing, Judge Łukasz Ziola, who conducted it, announced that on Wednesday Robert Lewandowski’s attorneys filed a motion to exclude the openness of the trial. The processing of the application took almost two hours and according to our information, it was tumultuous.
Closed process, almost entirely
As we found out, some time ago the footballer’s website informed that he would not mind the openness of the trial. Now, however, she has changed her mind on the matter. The representatives of Kucharski, the former manager of Lewandowski, were in favor of the transparency of the case from the beginning. Judge Ziola summoned journalists after two hours and announced that he had granted the claim of the victims. He translated:
– The court may exclude the openness of the hearing, if the openness could infringe important private interests of the parties to the proceedings. Especially that the evidence of the case includes information from civil proceedings pending in secret.
At the same time, the judge announced that the issue of reconstructing the tapes on which the alleged blackmail of the footballer is recorded will be open. These recordings, as well as their transcripts, have been available in the media for over a year now.
Following the court’s decision, dozens of journalists left the courtroom. Next hearing on February 16.
