Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez compares adaptation at Liverpool to Suárez

Main hiring of Liverpool at the start of the season, Darwin Núñez still failed to meet fans’ expectations. The striker landed in England after the club disbursed between 75 and 100 million euros (R$ 400 and R$ 535 million). In an interview with sky sports, the Uruguayan spoke about the difficulties in adapting.

“It’s a very big change. Here the championship is stronger, more competitive. I didn’t expect it to be so strong. Nico Otamendi (Darwin’s teammate at Benfica) told me that, but even so, I didn’t expect it”, began the player.

“I was very impressed. There are no bad teams. Everyone is in this championship for a reason. Football is more difficult than in Portugal and more competitive. You don’t have much time”, he added.

According to Darwin, he believes he can overcome this troubled beginning. One of the great examples of this, in his view, is compatriot Luis Suárez, who also had a difficult first season, but became one of the team’s main players in his second year.

“Obviously, I still have a lot of things to work on, for example, my submission. But I think the same thing is happening to me that happened to Suarez. In the second year, he tore”, he justified.

Since arriving at Liverpool, Darwin Núñez has played 25 games, with ten goals and three assists. At the moment, the team is in ninth place in the English Premier League, far from the qualification zone for the next Champions League. In their next match, for the championship, they will face Wolverhampton this Saturday. The ball will roll at 12:00 (Brasília time), at the Molineux Stadium.
