Chelsea’s shocking mistakes. They showed me how not to do it

Minutes after 11pm on Tuesday, it seemed certain that Hakim Ziyech would spend the next few months on loan at PSG. After long negotiations, the French champions reached an agreement with Chelsea, and the player was to go to Paris on a short loan with no buyout clause.

While everyone was waiting for an official announcement from both clubs on this matter, the French media began to report on the problems. After midnight, it turned out that Ziyech will most likely not go to PSG. All because of the errors of the English when sending the necessary documents to register the footballer.

In an interview with The Athletic, an anonymous source from Paris called Chelsea’s behavior “a circus”. The French champions wanted to complain about them and talk to the French league authorities about Ziyech’s subsequent registration. The meeting took place on Wednesday morning, but the position of the LFP was clear: you did not manage to register the player, there is no question of a transfer.

Ziyech, who pushed hard for a loan move to Paris, will stay at Chelsea until at least the summer. For the team’s coach – Graham Potter – this is a big problem. First of all, because the Moroccan will surely be disappointed by the failed deal with PSG. In addition, his departure from Chelsea has been speculated for several months.

Ziyech will not go to PSG

explained what the mistakes made by the English club were. And if these were not premeditated mistakes, which is hard to believe, it was a shocking lack of professionalism on the part of Stamford Bridge’s lawyers.

According to the daily, PSG first received an incorrect document necessary to register Ziyech. After a few minutes, the appropriate paper arrived in Paris, but without the necessary signature from Chelsea. On the next attempt, the Londoners made exactly the same mistake. It was only the fourth time that the French champions received the correct document, but then it was too late and the Parisians did not manage to register the Moroccan as their player.

Chelsea has yet to comment on the matter. For now, however, it looks like either an incredible lack of professionalism or a premeditated detention of Ziyech. For the club, it was certainly more important to complete the record transfer of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.
