Union Berlin overcomes Wolfsburg and advances to the quarterfinals of the German Cup

This Tuesday, in a match valid for the round of 16 of the German Cup, Union Berlin beat Wolfsburg by 2-1 and qualified for the quarterfinals. Luca Waldschmidt scored for Wolfsburg, while Robin Knoche and Kevin Behrens turned for Union Berlin. The match took place at An der Alten Forsterei Stadium.

The clashes of the next phase will be defined by draw, which takes place on February 12th.

The two clubs return to the field this weekend, for the German Championship. On Sunday, at 1:30 pm, Wolfsburg, in seventh place, will face Bayern at the Volkswagen Arena.

4 minutes into the first half of the game played on Tuesday, Gerhardt passed to Luca Waldschmidt, who was free inside the area to open the scoring for Wolfsburg.

The answer came at 11 of the first stage. In a rehearsed corner kick, Robin Knoche received a cross on the second post and only pushed it towards the goal, tying the match.

In the 33rd minute of the final stage, Sheraldo Becker headed Kevin Behrens to score the second goal for Union Berlin, giving final numbers to the match.

In another German Cup game, Stuttgart beat Paderborn 2-1 and secured their qualification for the quarterfinals. Konstantinos Mavropanos scored an own goal to put Paderborn ahead. Sehrou Guirassy and Gil Dias turned to Stuttgart.
