FA launches disciplinary investigation against Ukrainian Chelsea player Mudryk
The Football Association of England (FA) has launched an investigation into the Ukrainian midfielder of the London “Chelsea” Mykhailo Mudryk, accused of racism. It is reported by The Athletic.
According to the publication, the disciplinary case against the 22-year-old athlete was initiated because of a video in which Mudrik says the word “niger” 16 times. It is noted that the federation must decide what sanctions can be imposed on the Ukrainian.
On January 31, it became known about the video in which Mudrik is performed by the track “Freestyle” hip-hop of the performer Lil Baby, in which the word “niger” is mentioned 16 times. Kick It Out, an organization dedicated to combating discrimination and racism in football, condemned the player for using racist language. After that, the representative of Mudrik said that the player deeply regrets what happened.
The transfer of Mudrik to Chelsea became known on January 15. His contract is for 7.5 years. The Londoners paid Shakhtar Donetsk 70 million euros for the player. Another 30 million Chelsea can pay as bonuses.
