The IOC said they would not allow Russian athletes to compete with a flag or anthem
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has called the option of admission to tournaments inaccessible to Russian and Belarusian athletes. It is reported by TASS.
The IOC said that they would not consider the option of admitting Russians with the flag, anthem or other identification mark of their country. In addition, no representative of the Russian, Belarusian governments or government official should be invited or accredited to any international sporting event or meeting.
On January 25, the IOC announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. It is clarified that only athletes who did not support the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will be able to get permission to compete in international tournaments.
After that, the head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Vadim Gutzeit, said that the national team could boycott the 2024 Games if the teams of Russia and Belarus participate in them. Latvia and Poland also want to join the boycott.
