The first women’s Grand Slam tournament of the season ended on Saturday. Świątek has to catch up in the Race ranking, Sabalenka is the clear leader
The defeat in the 1/8 finals in Melbourne translates into a poor position in the WTA Race ranking, which will determine the eight best players of the season. For promotion to the fourth round, Świątek won 365 points, which gives her 13th place in this ranking. Sabalenka can enjoy a confident lead, with 2,470 points after winning the WTA tournament in Adelaide and the triumph at the Australian Open. The second place is occupied by Rybakina (1356 points), and the podium is completed by Wiktoria Azarenka (16th WTA), who has 881 points. Linette’s great performance gives her 4th place in the Race ranking (866 points).
