Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev will fight against Briton Callum Smith next
The President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman named the next opponent of the Russian Artur Beterbiev. His words are quoted by Match TV.
Suleiman said that the athlete will fight with 32-year-old Briton Callum Smith. The functionary did not name the date and place of the duel.
Suleiman also praised the victory of the Russian over Briton Anthony Yarde at a boxing evening in London. “Beterbiev is one of the best champions of our time, the best light heavyweight. This was his toughest fight and he will need to rest a little, ”he said.
Earlier on Sunday, January 29, Beterbiev defeated Yarde by technical knockout in the eighth round. He defended the WBC, International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) light heavyweight titles.
In total, Beterbiev won 19 victories in his career and did not suffer a single defeat. Smith has 29 wins and one defeat.
