Scott says soccer player Ferdinand stole a spoon from the Kremlin during a meeting with Putin

Former England defender Rio Ferdinand stole a teaspoon at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. Ex-Arsenal football player Alex Scott wrote about this in her memoirs How (Not) to Be Strong, an excerpt from which Sports.ru cites.

The athlete said that she and Ferdinand were invited to the Kremlin as members of the International Football Federation (FIFA) legends program to discuss the 2018 World Cup. “Rio made me laugh on the way out – he opened his palm and showed that he had stolen a spoon as a keepsake,” she recalled.

Scott previously stated that a Russian taxi driver threatened to kill her during the 2018 World Cup. According to her, after she showed the driver a photo with Putin, he left her alone.

Scott is a 2015 World Championship bronze medalist and 2009 European silver medalist with the England women’s team. She is also known for her performances for Birmingham City and Arsenal, with whom she won the Women’s Champions League in 2007.
