O Borussia Dortmund seeks to follow glued to the classification zone for the Champions Leaguebut he faces an opponent in a great phase, the Bayer Leverkusen. For the 18th round of the German Championshipthe teams face each other this Sunday, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time), at the BayArena.
The visitors are still unbeaten after the Bundesliga return. They beat Augsburg, by 3 to 2, and Mainz, by 2 to 1, away from home. Even so, the troubled start of the season means that the team is not in the G4 of the competition.
A win this weekend, however, could bring Borussia Dortmund closer to the Champions League qualifying zone.
“It’s important that we started the new year with two wins. We have a connection with the top. In Leverkusen, we’ll see where the path takes us. We want to start 2023 with nine points and be there where everything happens”, commented the visitors’ coach, Edin Terzic, on the match.

Bayer Leverkusen have not lost for five matches in the Bundesliga. Since returning to the competition, the team has defeated Borussia Monchengladbach, 3-2, and Bochum, 2-0. Even if they win against Borussia Dortmund this Sunday, the hosts will not rise in the table, compared to where were at the start of the round. However, a good result can prevent them from losing positions.
