Commentator Dmitry Guberniev spoke about the regression of Russian biathlon due to sanctions
Commentator Dmitry Guberniev spoke about the impact of sanctions on Russian biathlon. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“We will still regress during the period of sanctions, this is inevitable. We just need to slow down this process as much as possible. This applies to shooting, and skiing, and inventory. Foreign firms don’t sell us anything,” he shared. Guberniev added that, despite the enormous difficulties, one cannot give up and one must continue to work.
Earlier, the medalist of the 2022 Olympic Games in the relay Karim Khalili complained about the level of organization of tournaments in Russia. “In many places, the level of accommodation and nutrition of athletes leaves much to be desired. Still, high-level biathletes come, but sometimes it is very difficult for them to find decent food, which is necessary for recovery, ”he said.
On September 16, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) extended the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes, which has been going on since the beginning of March. The order will remain in effect until further notice.
