Mateusz Miga, a TVP Sport journalist, informed about the whole case on Twitter. Previously, he described the practice of fixing friendlies in Turkey in more detail. As he reported, as much as 41,000 euros were bet on the match between Wisła and LASK Linz. This is an unprecedented amount for ordinary sparring at a training camp. Players bet that at least four goals will be scored in the match.
The referee fixed the result of the Wisła Kraków match in Turkey
When Mateusz Miga wrote a tweet informing about the possibility of fixing the match, Wisła was leading 1:0 after a goal from the penalty kick. LASK Linz equalized in the 47th minute. This result lasted until the 76th minute, when an event took place that basically dispelled all doubts.
After a corner kick, the referee awarded a penalty kick to the Austrian team for… well, for what? Probably for a hand move, but one that only he saw. “Eleven” was used, followed by another telling event. We encourage you to watch a fragment of the video below from the moment when the clock shows 76:30.
Suddenly, the whole Wisła Kraków team appeared on the pitch and it looked like a meeting. From the live coverage you could hear “There was no penalty at 100 percent” and “It’s a joke!” (“It’s a joke” – ed.). From other dialogues, it could be concluded that the “White Star” team realized what they were involved in and wondered whether to continue the match. In the end, it was decided to keep playing.
LASK scored 3-1 in the 88th minute and it became clear that someone had gotten rich.
Let us recall that a similar case took place in the match between Legia Warszawa and Azerbaijani Sabail FK (2:2). There, too, the “show” was given by the judge. We wrote more about it
