Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the return to Russia of the Olympic champion in ice dancing, coach Natalia Linichuk, who left to live in the USA. Her words are quoted by TASS.
Tarasova expressed confidence that Linichuk would work in Russia, noting that she had raised many talented students. “In the USA, her work ended, there were no students left there. Let’s wait and see, but I think it will be useful for Russian figure skating, ”she said.
On January 22, it became known that 66-year-old Linichuk, who left to live in the States in the early 1990s, returned to her homeland. She stated that she wants to work as a coach with Russian skaters and is open to offers.
Together with Gennady Karponosov, she became the Olympic champion in 1980. The couple also has two victories at the World and European Championships. After the end of their sports career, athletes worked as coaches in the United States. Under their leadership, Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov became Olympic champions. In 2014, the couple divorced.
