The head coach of the Russian national team Alexei Zhamnov received a satisfactory rating for the team’s performance at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. This was told to TASS by the President of the Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak.
“All decisions that relate to the future season of national teams, including personnel, will be made by the FHR later,” he said. Tretyak added that the team had the task of winning the Olympics.
The FHR also gave a satisfactory assessment to the head coach of the Russian women’s team Evgeny Bobariko. His team finished fifth in the tournament. Men reached the final, where they lost to Finland (1:2).
On February 28, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in tournaments under its auspices. Athletes lost the opportunity to compete at the 2022 World Cup, they were replaced by the teams of France and Austria. In addition, Russia was deprived of the right to host the 2023 World Cup.
