The National Hockey League (NHL) has introduced a new rule for Russian Stanley Cup winners. It is reported by “Match TV”.

According to the source, the league will not allow the Russian player to bring the trophy to the country if his team wins. The reason was that the NHL broke off relations with Russia, which means it cannot hold official events in the country. The leadership of the league believes that in this case the matter concerns not an individual athlete, but the entire structure.

For the past five years, the Stanley Cup has come to Russia, as Russians have been on the winning teams. Last year and the year before they were Andrei Vasilevsky, Nikita Kucherov, and Mikhail Sergachev in the Tampa Bay Lightning.
