Paquetá comments on partnership with Neymar and reveals resourcefulness after advice

In a press conference this Tuesday, Lucas Paquetá commented on his continuity in the Brazilian team and his partnership with Neymar. Starting with Canarinho, the midfielder has established himself as one of coach Tite’s trusted men.

“I’m very happy with the moment I’m living at Lyon and, especially, here in the Seleção. Regarding Neymar, we are getting along well on and off the field. He has helped me a lot and given me support so that I can develop my best football. What we have in common is the pleasure of wearing the Brazilian national team’s shirt, the desire to want to win games and achieve great things”, said the midfielder.

“Neymar is our main player and he is an idol for me. When I had difficult times, even here in the national team, he came and talked to me, told me to take it easy and that I was a great player. I think it’s attitudes like this that calmed me down and gave me confidence to do my best”, declared Paquetá.

When asked which are the three best players of the season, the former Flamengo did not mention his own name and just chose two. “It’s a tough question. I think I would vote for Lewandowski, Jorginho, who had a good season, and the others are on the same level”, he revealed.

At Lyon, France, Paquetá has been doing a great season. According to him, Juninho Pernambucano, the team’s soccer director, has a great role in its development.

“Juninho is a daddy to me. He placed his trust in me and today I am able to reward him in the way he would like, which is playing the best football. I just have to thank you”, he commented.

The Brazilian team plays the last two games of the year, for the World Cup qualifiers, in November.

The duel against Colombia takes place this Thursday, at 9:30 pm (GMT), at Neo Química Arena. The match against Argentina, on the 16th, is scheduled for 20:30, at the Estadio del Bicentenario, on Argentine soil.

“They are two great teams with excellent quality players. We have to think about doing a good job and playing well to be close to winning. I believe there will be two great games to end the year well”, said Paquetá.

The athlete commented on the experience of being a father and the support of his wife at all times. “It’s been an amazing time. The best moment of my career is not for nothing. It’s for having these two little ones and my wife on my side. I feel like an amazing father. I try to help my wife as much as I can and get full support. Getting home and seeing my children smile is being more fuel.” finished.
