Tatyana Tarasova said that Russian athletes should participate in the Asian Games
Honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova spoke about the invitation of Russian athletes to the Asian Games. Her words are quoted by TASS.
“We must accept this invitation. We don’t have competition at all. Let through Asia, let through Africa, our athletes return to the competition, ”said Tarasova. She also called the proposal of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for cooperation a good sign.
Earlier, the OCA invited Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in the Asian Games. The next tournament will be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Representatives of the Russian national gymnastics team and the Wrestling Federation have already announced their readiness to come to the Games.
At the end of February 2022, many sports organizations banned the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC. In some disciplines, such as motorsport, cycling, tennis, boxing, MMA and chess, the Russians continue to play in a neutral status.
