Xavi leads his first training at Barcelona

Xavi Hernández’s first day of work under Barcelona was a busy one. Despite the absence of some players due to a call-up or injury, the coach is already meeting his new team. The Spaniard spoke with the players and also led their first training session.

Xavi is a great reference in Barça. As a player, he has won the Spanish Championship eight times, four Champions League and two world titles, in addition to the World Cup, for Spain, in 2010.

Right at his presentation, the new commander spoke about the challenges at Barcelona and the comparisons with Guardiola:

“That they compare me with Guardiola is already a success for everything he has given to football and Barça. For me he’s the best coach in the world, and any comparison now is bad for me. It’s the results that will tell if we’re doing well or not, but for me it’s a success to be compared with him”, he said.

President Joan Laporta insisted on stopping by the club’s Sports City and greeting the culé idol.

Xavi will lead new training sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, aiming at the derby against Espanyol, on November 20th, at 5 pm (GMT).
