Five players from the German national team are quarantined after a positive for covid-19

five players from German Selection players were quarantined after one of them tested positive for covid-19. The information was given by the federation (DFB) on Tuesday.

The player with a positive result was vaccinated and is asymptomatic, added the DFB, without revealing his identity. The newspaper image published that it is the defender of the Bayern Munchen Niklas Sule.

Another four athletes were forced to isolate themselves because they were in contact with the positive, although they tested negative, the organization said.

“This information, which comes very close to the end of qualifying for the World Cup, is bitter,” lamented DFB director Oliver Bierhoff.

Already qualified for the World Cup, the German national team plays against Liechtenstein on November 11 and, three days later, travels to face Armenia away from home.

Germany faces an increase in covid-19 infections, with the seven-day incidence rate hitting a new record on Tuesday.

Last week, Bayern Munich player Joshua Kimmich caused controversy by saying that he did not want to be vaccinated for “personal reasons”.

“Reflect once more and get vaccinated!” asked Interior Minister Horst Seehofer in an interview with the newspaper image. “You are a role model. If you get vaccinated, other people will say ‘me too’ [serei]”, he added.

“It’s not that I’m opposed to vaccination,” Kimmich said, clarifying that he has doubts about its long-term effects. Even so, he did not rule out that he could be immunized in the future.
