Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic on Saturday confirmed striker Lewandowski’s desire to leave the club at the end of this season. The statement came before the team’s match against Wolfsburg, for the last round of the German Championship.
“I spoke to Lewa. During the conversation, he told me that he does not want to accept our offer to renew his contract and that he would like to leave the club,” the manager told Sky Sport from Germany.
“He told me he would like something new. But our position will not change. Lewa has a contract until June 30, 2023. That is a fact,” he added.
Recently, the Pole had his name linked to Barcelona. Without Haaland, the Spaniards prepare a proposal for the current best in the world, the main target to reinforce the team next season. However, the Bavarians promise to play hardball and should not release it for less than 40 million euros (R$ 210 million).
The coach of the Catalan team, Xavi Hernández spoke about the possible signing of the 33-year-old player at a press conference held on Saturday, and ruled out any rejection regarding the athlete’s age.
“Age doesn’t matter to me when it comes to signing. We brought in Daniel Alves at the age of 38. Players take better care of themselves these days. Alves, Ibrahimovic, Modric, Cristiano or Messi are examples,” said the coach.
