Falubaz Zielona Góra is one of the most awarded speedway clubs in Poland. The seven-time national champions, however, have had big problems in recent years. In 2021, after 15 seasons spent in the highest league, the team fell to the first league and this is not the end of bad news. On Wednesday, January 25, the Court of Justice of the European Union announced that the company Falubaz SA, which manufactures equipment used in industry, now has full rights to the name Falubaz. This means that the speedway club from Zielona Góra is solely dependent on the company’s decision. The subject will judge on what terms and whether it will be possible for the legendary team to perform under the historical name. This can be an extremely troublesome matter, as the two entities have been in conflict for many years.
Thus, the Court upheld the decision of the EU Intellectual Property Office in Alicante, which twice agreed with the company regarding the incorrect use of the trademark.

In 2015, representatives of the speedway club decided to obtain the right to use the name Falubaz in the field of sport, marketing and organization of events. – The Falubaz SA company had nothing to do with sport, which is why we obtained this registration. It passed the patent office of the European Union and was successfully registered in favor of ZK¯ SSA – said the current president of the club, Wojciech Domagała, a few years ago.
The company’s authorities did not like this, and they immediately applied to the office in Alicante – which issued the permit – to cancel the trademark granted to the club from the Lubuskie Voivodeship. – Although it is associated with speedway sport, Falubaz is primarily a production plant – replied the president of the board of Falubaz SA, Przemys³aw Maciejski, to the words of Domagały for the “” magazine a few years ago.
