Barcelona beats Real Sociedad in the King’s Cup and advances to the semi-finals

Barcelona are in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey in Spain. This Wednesday, the Blaugrana club beat Real Sociedad 1-0 at the Camp Nou, in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The classification goal was scored by Ousmane Demebélé.

First time

Xavi’s team started the match with everything and already had chances to open the scoring with Lewandowski and Gavi. On the right side, Frenchman Dembélé took a lot of advantage with dribbling and speed. At 20 minutes, the winger crossed low in the area, De Jong tried to reach it with a cart, but sent it out.

Barcelona were already superior in the confrontation, until midfielder Braiz Méndez gave Busquets a hard tackle and was expelled with the help of VAR. The home team continued to press and almost scored with Pedri in stoppage time in the first half. The midfielder invaded the area, but had the shot blocked by the Real Sociedad defense.

Second time

With one more, Barça took even more advantage on the right. Acting improvised on the side, Koundé launched Dembélé in depth. The Frenchman dominated in speed and, instead of playing for Lewandowski in the small area, he decided to shoot hard at the goalkeeper’s corner and surprised Remiro to open the scoring in the 6th minute of the second half.

Real Sociedad struggled to defend and even more to counterattack. However, in the 15th minute, striker Sorloth had a clear chance to score, but wasted it unbelievably. After a good move by Kubo, the Japanese crossed low and the ball was left free for Sorloth under the crossbar, who sent it over.

That wasn’t the only scare that Barcelona suffered in the game. In the 43rd minute, Ter Stegen missed the ball and handed it over to Real Sociedad. Robert Navarro came face to face with the goal, but the German goalkeeper performed a miracle and saved the shot, avoiding the tie in the end.
