Ukrainian figure skaters Violetta Serova and Ivan Hobta agreed to give an interview in Russian at the European Championships, which takes place in Espoo, Finland. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.
The journalist asked the athletes what language they were ready to speak. “You can speak English, Ukrainian, Russian – whatever suits you,” Hobta said. The reporter chose English, citing convenience for the surrounding journalists.
On January 25, Serov and Hobta performed in the short program of the European Championship in the competition of sports couples. Athletes received 47.53 points for rental and are in tenth place.
On June 7, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) at the congress of the organization decided to extend the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices. It will remain in effect until further notice.
