McGregor takes up challenge from former UFC belt contender

American mixed martial artist (MMA) Michael Chandler challenged the Irishman Conor McGregor. Post available in Twitter– athlete account

The 35-year-old American posted an edited battle of views photo where he stands opposite McGregor. Chandler left a caption for the image – “2022”. Fans believe that the American wants to become the first rival for McGregor after the Irishman’s injury. McGregor himself took up the challenge – he left a comment under Chandler’s post.

On November 7, the American fought with Justin Gage at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. Chandler conceded by decision. This fight was the third for the American in the promotion. After defeating Dan Hooker, he became a contender for the lightweight belt and lost to Charles Oliveira in a fight for the vacant title.

McGregor continues to recover from an injury sustained in a duel with Dustin Poirier in July. The Irishman stumbled and broke his leg.

McGregor is a former UFC two-weight champion.
