Uruguay thrashes Venezuela and commands group B of the South American U-20

The Uruguayan team overwhelmed Venezuela 3-0 this Tuesday and climbed to the leadership of group B of the South American U-20, which is played in Colombia.

Attacker Luciano Rodríguez, from Liverpool, scored a brace (24, 65) and was the star at the Deportivo Cali stadium in Palmira.

His teammate, the Celeste midfielder and captain, Fabricio Díaz, stormed into the rival area at minute 42 to score the remaining goal.

With this, the charrúas reach the top of group B, with a perfect score (6 units), and were one step away from getting into the final hexagonal.

La Vinotinto —who suffered the expulsion of the attacker Kevin Kelsy at the start of the complement— adjusted their second defeat in as many games. Now they must beat Ecuador (4 points) on Thursday to continue with their chances of going to the final round, where four spots for the 2023 World Cup in Indonesia will be at stake.

Bolivia (3 points) sought to match the line of the Uruguayans in the second hour against Chile (1 point), at the close of the third date.

The three best U-20 players will also play the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games in October and November. (D)
