Pogba Injures and Lacks France in 2022 World Cup Qualifiers

Midfielder Paul Pogba, who suffered an “injury to the quadriceps of his right leg”, will be out of the decisive matches for France’s qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, being replaced by Jordan Veretout, announced the French federation (FFF ).

Manchester United midfielder was injured on Monday when he kicked the ball during ‘Bleus’ training in Clairefontaine.

Pogba left the field with a limp, accompanied by the French national team doctor, confirmed AFP journalists.

With this, the player will not be able to play in Saturday’s match that Didier Deschamps’ team will play against Kazakhstan, last placed in a group D that is led by the ‘Bleus’ with 12 points from six games.

In case of victory, the current world champion would qualify to defend her title next year in Qatar.

Otherwise, France would have another chance in Helsinki against Finland on Tuesday of next week.

With 9 points, Ukraine is second in the group although they have played 7 games, while Finland have 8 points and even Bosnia and Herzegovina, with 7, still have chances to qualify.

To replace Pogba, Deschamps has called up Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout, who will join France on Tuesday.
