RUSADA told about further consideration of Valieva’s case

The head of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova spoke about the further consideration of the case of figure skater Kamila Valieva. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“We are awaiting the full text of the decision from the Disciplinary Committee (DAC) and will take further action. Organizations that are authorized to appeal the decision of the disciplinary committee are also waiting for the full text of the decision. In the near future it will be, ”said Loginova. She noted that there were several cases when RUSADA challenged the decision of its own disciplinary committee.

On January 13, it became known that RUSADA informed the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) that Valieva was not guilty of violating anti-doping rules. WADA is unhappy with this DAK verdict and will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). At the same time, the skater was deprived of the gold of the Russian Championship-2022.

At the 2022 Olympics, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, CAS allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
