Fighter Ismailov called the burning of the Koran in Stockholm a provocation and cursed the politician Paludan
Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Magomed Ismailov spoke about the burning of the Koran by the leader of the Danish far-right Hard Course party Rasmus Paludan. His words are available on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).
The athlete called the incident a provocation. “Now this shaitan will be in my prayers, wrapped in a curse. Has he harmed the word of Allah? No, I didn’t. He did damage to himself. He insulted, hurt the feelings of Muslims, offended and provoked,” Ismailov said. He stressed that the politician has inflamed his place in hell even more.
Earlier, a Swedish fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev reacted to the incident. He called the politician a terrorist. “I am a Muslim, but I have never been against a foreign religion, and I have never allowed myself to do what he does with a foreign religion,” the fighter condemned Paludan’s actions.
The action of burning the holy book took place in Stockholm on January 21. It was coordinated with the local authorities and passed in front of the Turkish embassy under police control. In his speech, Paludan, who showed a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad, criticized NATO, Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Subsequently, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the action an act of disrespect towards Muslims.
