Roy Jones Jr says Oleksandr Usyk needs to change to beat Fury
Former undisputed world boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. gave advice to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk before the fight with British Tyson Fury. His words are quoted by Vegas Insider.
“He needs explosive punches and someone to teach him how to do it. He has a chance to win, but changes will be required, ”said the ex-athlete. He noted that the Ukrainian would not be able to harm the opponent if he boxed in the usual style.
On January 19, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren announced the postponement of the fight with the Ukrainian. “My hope is that the fight will take place in late March or early April, which is what we are counting on at the moment,” Warren said.
The 35-year-old Usyk has 20 victories in 20 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
The 34-year-old Fury has 33 wins and no losses, one more fight with his participation ended in a draw. He owns the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship belt.
