This Monday, the Valencia received and tied with Almería by 2 to 2, for the 18th round of the Spanish Championship. Kluivert and Gaya scored for the home team and Chumi and Portillo scored the visitors’ goals.
With the result, Valencia is in 12th place, with 20 points, and thus is three away from the relegation zone. Already Almería, with 19, is two points away from the degola and currently occupies the 14th position.
Valencia’s next commitment is for the quarterfinals of the King’s Cup, against Athletic Bilbao, on Thursday, at 4 pm (Brasília time). Almería is back on the field this Friday, at 5 pm, to face Espanyol, for the 19th round of La Liga.
Valencia started the duel by putting pressure on Almería’s ball output and, in this way, generated the main chances. The away team tried to respond in kind. At 43 of the first half, Almería had a penalty after Gabriel Paulista’s hand touch. Ramazani, however, missed the kick.
At the beginning of the second half, Valencia punished Ramazani’s mistake and opened the scoring with Kluivert, with a header, after a great cross by André Almeida. However, Almería responded quickly, also in the air, in a precise finish by Chumi.
Soon after a penalty and a goal annulled, Valencia returned to the lead with a goal scored by Gaya in a rebound by goalkeeper Fernando Martínez. The last goal of the match was scored by Portillo after Valencia failed to leave the ball, in the 29th minute of the second half.
